One of our key goals is to provide members opportunities to learn from skilled instructors, who can teach folks to use the capacity of the makerspace to its fullest extent. Please contact us if you have suggestions on potential classes/instructors or if you’d like to teach a class for yourself.
Here are some of our upcoming classes:
Pottery by Ecology Ceramics (with instruction by Tara Knadler)
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to throw on the wheel? Come find out with us! In this class you will learn tools, techniques and safety procedures to ensure you have the best understanding of contemporary pottery. Demonstrations for all basic forms of pottery will be given including mugs, bowls, planters, dishes, and vases. Each class includes 8 hours of instruction spread out over 4 weeks. In addition to instruction you will also have access to the building during normal business hours to practice techniques and familiarize yourself with the studio.
Starting Friday January 7th, and running for four weeks. 6pm – 8pm
Come explore the earliest form of clay creation there is. Hand building is a great option for everyone! No matter your age or ability you are sure to find success in this class! We will learn the basics of coil building, pinch pots, slab building, bead making, and hump mold production. In addition we will explore tools and textures to make your pieces truly one of a kind. Each class includes 8 hours of instruction spread out over 4 weeks. In addition to instruction you will also have access to the building during normal business hours to practice techniques and familiarize yourself with the studio.
Starting Saturday January 8th, and running for four weeks. 12pm – 2pm
In need of a creative outlet for your little? We are here to help! This class offers a step by step instruction for your child to complete a project from start to finish, wet clay to glazed piece. Each project will emphasize a particular technique, enabling them to build on their own knowledge of clay class after class!
Starting Saturday January 8th, and running for 2 weeks. 10am – 11am
Adult classes are $250, for 8 hours of instructional sessions (and this cost includes a one month Makerspace membership, and the clay required for the class). 4 Weekly 2-hour classes, with 4 students per class.
The Kids class is $80 for 2 1-hour sessions.
