Here is the place; now is the time. We’re seeking submissions of inspirational, aspirational, anti-fascist genre fiction for Appalachia’s premiere pulp magazine. Submissions should be centered on revolutionary joy, resistance to oppression and fascism, and imagining better worlds. We also strongly prefer to publish accepted submissions under CC-BY-SA, but this is not an absolute requirement, and submitting does not relicense your work, and we’re willing to make accommodations for other licenses. (Why CC-BY-SA?) We pay at or above the industry standard rate (10 cents per word as of Autumn 2023), and works are not required to be exclusive or first time submissions (i.e. reprints are acceptable and simultaneous submissions to other publications are allowed) . We prefer works between 500 and 5,000 words, but submissions of other lengths will also be considered. Poetry submissions will also be considered (details TBA).

We reserve the right to reject any submission for any reason, with or without an explanation. If you have questions, please contact us via email fightthefuture@ellijaymakerspace.org. Additionally, we will not accept or publish your work without discussing it with you first. Please also consider adding us to your email whitelist or address book.

Send us your stories of resistance, compassion, struggle, and victory. Join us in celebration. To submit your work, please send it to fightthefuture@ellijaymakerspace.org with “Magazine Submission” in the subject line.

Submissions are Issue 1 are closed. Submissions for issue 2 are now open. Help us Fight the Future.
